| Brian Murphy - Chief of Technology
Education: BS Computer Science, University of Arizona
Background: Brian had his first real introduction to computers when his family purchased its first computer in 1990. The beige box intrigued Brian enough to go to the library and bring home some books on DOS. While learning the fine points of the command line and the programming behind the computer, his true life's interest was to apply his high school passion for chemistry and become a pharmacist. That all changed when he graduated high school and was awarded an internship at the University of Arizona Advanced Telecommunications Research Project in the summer of '93. The electrical and computer engineering graduate students taught Brian Unix in order to make him useful to their research. Several years later, Brian graduated college with a degree in computer science. Central IT at the UofA quickly hired Brian after graduation to fulfill their need for an advanced technical person who could communicate with non-computer related staff and participants at the UofA. Ten years later Brian has taken his experience of highly reliable enterprise systems to the private sector to form Initus Design, L.L.C.
